Matin Abad Desert Eco-Camp Tourist information

In the middle of Iran’s Dasht-e Kavir (Central Desert), Matinabad Eco Desert is a place where green tourists can go. Matinabad Eco Desert Camp was set up to encourage eco-friendly tourism and bring more attention to the unique natural and cultural heritage of Iran’s central desert area.

It is in the province of Isfahan, close to Naein. The Matinabad Eco Desert was made with a strong focus on eco-friendly and long-lasting methods. The camp wants to give guests an authentic desert experience while having as little of an effect on the environment as possible.

The structures are designed to withstand the harsh desert climate, including extreme temperature fluctuations and sandstorms. The architecture incorporates techniques to provide insulation, shade, and ventilation suitable for the desert environment.

Visitors can experience traditional Iranian architectural elements, such as wind towers (badgirs) for natural cooling, and the use of local materials, colors, and motifs that connect visitors with the cultural history of the area.

One of the fundamental aspects of its architectural greatness is the way the structures are designed to maximize the connection with the desert landscape. Open courtyards, large windows, and outdoor spaces allow guests to appreciate the natural beauty of the desert while also providing comfort and shelter.

Where to Stay in Matinabad Desert Eco-Camp

When visiting Matinabad Desert, there are a few options for accommodations that offer a unique and amazing experience.

1- The Hotels

The central building within the complex features seven spacious rooms, each equipped with a private bathroom boasting hot showers and modern Western-style toilets. These rooms are furnished with comfortable wooden beds and soft mattresses to ensure a restful night’s sleep.

Additionally, they come equipped with air conditioning for a refreshing and relaxed atmosphere, a refrigerator for your convenience, and a television for your entertainment. Each of these rooms accommodates two beds, and if you are traveling with more companions, it is possible to add an extra bed as needed.

For those seeking a more luxurious experience, there is an exquisite suite atop the complex, known as the Shah Neshin, with a stunning interior design that mirrors the amenities found in the other rooms. This suite can accommodate a minimum of four guests and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the desert, farm, and surroundings.

It is designed with inspiration from traditional Iranian desert homes, featuring a combination of thatch, brick, and plaster in its decor. The rooms are adorned with lush Persian rugs and offer scenic desert vistas, enhancing your overall experience at the Matinabad Eco-camp.

Adjacent to the Shah Neshin room, you’ll find the charming Gooshvareh room, situated on both sides. While the Shah Neshin was initially designed and constructed to host special guests, the Gooshvareh was built to provide additional support to the Shah Neshin’s dome.

2- Tents

Spend a magical time in a beautiful traditional Iranian desert nomad tent. Mosquito nets have been thoughtfully added to these tents to keep you comfortable during the warmer months by keeping pesky bugs away.

During the winter, you can enjoy the cozy warmth of a Korsi, an old-fashioned way to heat your home, or a modern heater. The tents are set up so that there is a lot of space between them. This gives you privacy while still being close to the main building, baths, and bathrooms. For your comfort, each tent has a rug, mattress, pillow, blanket, and sheets that are the right size for the number of people in your appointment.

3- Koomeh

In Persian, the word “Koomeh” refers to small rooms that were initially built in the desert to protect farmers’ land and help hunters with their hunting. At the moment, Matinabad Eco-camp has 13 of these Koomehs. These buildings were skillfully put together using a mix of bricks and mud. The tops have beautiful dome shapes that let a lot of natural airflow through the room.

For comfort and ease, the Koomehs also have both air conditioning and heating systems, so the temperature inside stays comfortable no matter what the weather is like outside. Although a Koomeh usually has two beds, it is possible to add an extra bed if needed.
