1- Iran Visa Information – Iran Visa Guide (Updated)

Some travelers might think that getting an Iran visa sounds complicated and confusing, but the process is much easier than most people think. There are a few rules and precautions to follow when applying. Still, the government is also working to simplify the Iran visa policy and the process for people from many different countries.

This is the best and most up-to-date guide to getting a visa for Iran, with all the latest information. In this post, we will explain everything regarding Iran visa.

2- How to get Iran e-visa

If you’re going to Iran for tourism, you need to find a travel agent or a friend or family member who will house you. If you are traveling for business, then the company you are visiting can issue your invitation letter.

The travel agency, host, or company in Iran will apply to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). If your application is accepted, they will give you a visa code, which you must take to the Iranian Embassy or consulate along with all the other required documents. You can also apply for your own Iran Visa code on the Iran MFA website.

After you get the Visa Code from the travel firm, you must take it and the other documents to the Iranian Embassy or Consulate in your country. If there is not an Iranian Embassy in your country, then you may have to go to a neighboring country or another Embassy to which Iran has outsourced visa applications. In the United States, for instance, it is the Iranian Interests Section of the Pakistani Embassy.

4- Iran Visa Processing Time. How Long Does It Take?

Since there are two distinct application procedures, visa processing times vary.

You must first apply for the Iran Visa Code (online or through an agency). Obtaining an Iran visa code online takes approximately 5 to 7 business days. If you are from the United States, the United Kingdom, or Canada, it may take one to three months.

Then, depending on your nationality, you must register for your Iran visa at the Embassy, which can take a few days and two weeks. If you are not applying at an embassy, you can obtain an Iran visa upon arrival at the airport in just a few hours.

8- Iran Visa on Arrival

As the name suggests, a visa on arrival is given out at the places of entry into a country, such as airports, land borders, and seaports. For this reason, you get a visa after entering the country! For a visa on arrival, you don’t have to send your application to an embassy ahead of time like you do for a regular visa. But getting a visa on arrival comes with rules and documents you need. Forgetting these can make your trip plans less smooth.

Currently, visas on arrival are only given for short-term reasons, like vacations, work trips, conferences, family visits, medical care, and necessary surgeries.

Documents required to obtain a visa on arrival:

  • People from every country except the USA, UK, Canada, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Jordan, Colombia, and Somalia can use a visa-on-arrival system to apply for a visa and pick any of Iran’s international airports to pick up their visa.
  • When applying for a visa, applicants must be in person and show the original passport, which must be valid for at least six months and free of damage or flaws.
  • All foreigners entering Iran must have both the original and a copy of their travel insurance card. This insurance can also be obtained at the airport.
  • It is important to bring the confirmation slip from the electronic visa system. This email is sent to the application when the visa is approved.
  • Iran doesn’t accept foreign bank cards, so tourists need to bring cash in one of these currencies to cover the costs of getting a visa: US Dollar, Euro, Pound Sterling, UAE Dirham, Swiss Franc, Japanese Yen, Kuwaiti Dinar, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Omani Rial, Qatari Rial, Saudi Riyal, or Bahraini Dinar (preferably Euro).
  • You can’t get a visa at the airports for a foreign passport, a service passport, or a refugee document (a travel document).

Even if you do not have an Israeli stamp, any proof of entry into the country will be considered. For instance, if you have a Jordanian land entry visa at the Israel frontier, it might be a problem
  • Be from one of the eligible countries for the EVisa. The majority of Europeans and non-Europeans are eligible to get an Iran visa

10- Iran Visa Extension

To extend your visa in Iran about 10 to 30 days more, you must go to the “Immigration and Passport Office” in person two or three days before your current visa expires. You will need your passport, two photos (women must have their hair covered in one of the photos), cash in Iranian currency to pay for the extension, a visa extension form, and copies of your documents, all available there.
Every tourist has the right to ask the “Immigration and Passport office” in Iran’s biggest cities to extend their Iran visa. You don’t need to talk to MFA about extending your Iran visa because it can only be done at the immigration and passport police office in big cities like Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, and other places.
However, based on what tourists have told us, you will always have the best luck doing it in Shiraz Visa Immigration Office since Tehran offices are often very busy and Yazd and Isfahan take a long time. If your initial entry visa to Iran was handled by a travel agent, it might be best to go there and ask for a letter of reference, which you can then send in with your extension request letter. Let’s See Persia Agency has the right experts for both cases, which is good news.
